DJing and Music Production
Music is a HUGE part of my life, and one of my top 2 hobbies is DJing. I've been doing it since 1998 when I first purchased my equipment. I don't like to pigeonhole myself with one particular style of music. Instead, I prefer to say that I listen to and play great quality music. If I had to choose some styles that I tend to prefer the most, it would be many types of electronic music such as Acid Jazz, Downtempo, TripHop, and Funk. In addition, I HipHop, but specifically NOT the HipHop thats played on the radio and shovelled out to the masses, but rather the conscious, positive, and uplifting artists that have something intelligent to say.
In addition to DJing, I also do music production and recording on the side. I have experience with several DAWs including Reason, Cubase, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro tools, Adobe Audition (formerly CoolEdit) and various other programs such as Recycle.
My Equipment Includes:
- 2x Technics 1200mk2 Direct Drive Turntables
- Vestax PMC-05Pro Qbert Limited Edition 2ch Mixer
- Vestax QFO portable turntable
- Shure M44-7 Needles
- Native Instruments Kontrol X1
- Native Instruments Traktor Scratch Pro on a MacBook Pro
- Shure SRH440 Headphones
- M-Audio Fast Track Ultra
- Roland ED PC-70 Midi controller
- Shure SM58 microphone
My other big hobby is the martial arts style Wing Chun. I've been practising it since 2010. Prior to that style, I have done Choy Li Fut for three years. Learning martial arts has been by far one of the best decisions of my life. It instills confidence, lowers stress, promotes health and has a great community of people all willing to teach and learn from one another.
